SPRING FASHION TRENDS YOU CAN ACTUALLY WEAR

Introduction

As winter comes to an end, we all look forward to dusting off our spring wardrobe and dressing for warmer weather. Traditionally, spring trends tend to be a bit repetitive (florals, pastels, and all the feminine details). However, this spring season we are seeing a lot of unique fashion trends that are out of the norm. Some of them are wonderful (and wearable), and others, not so much. Let’s explore my personal round up of current spring fashion trends that you can actually wear.

1. Vibrant Color Blocking

This spring, we are seeing vibrant colors in all the stores and on popular online retailers websites. The bold pinks, electric blues, bright oranges, and neon greens are everywhere this season, making them easy to mix and match for a vibrant color blocked outfit. Try pairing a few different shades together to create your favorite color combinations while being mindful of your skin tone.

A great place to start when it comes to color blocking and creating high color contrast looks is to style opposite colors of the color wheel together (blue and orange, purple and yellow, red and green, etc). Not only will this create a bright, eye-catching outfit, but also allow you to express your creativity through personal style.

2. Relaxed Tailoring

Relaxed tailoring is all the rave this spring. Opting for an oversized look as opposed to a skinny or fitted sillouhette will give you that effortlessly chic aesthetic (think Parisian chic). While this isn’t always a flattering look one everyone, there are simple ways you can incorporate this trend with more figure-flattering pieces. For example styling an oversized blazer with your favorite well-fitting straight leg jeans, or for you pear or triange-shaped ladies, try wearing a relaxed wide-leg pant with a more fitted top.

Material also plays a factor in the style and fit of each piece of clothing. Cotton and linen tend to create a more loose or relaxed fit that plays into relaxed tailored look.

3. Statement Sleeves

The statement sleeve is a great way to elevate your everyday look and add a fun twist to your outfit. Puff sleeves, balloon sleeves, and bishop sleeves have been at the top of the list this spring, but a Marie sleeve or petal sleeve may also be a good option to add to the already feminine styles of the season. Note, ladies with broader shoulders or an inverted triangle-shaped should be mindful of adding too much volume to the shoulder area.

4. Elevated Loungewear

If this isn’t a closet staple of yours already, I highly encourage you to incorporate elevated loungewear into your spring wardrobe. I wouldn’t consider this a trend, but rather an timeless investment in elevating your personal style. Elevated loungewear is something that is comfortable enough to feel like pajamas, yet chic enough to have you look polished and put-together (think matching knit sets). They’re a great options for causal outings or running errands and you can easily dress them up a bit with a few accessories such as gold jewelry and heeled sandals or simple white sneakers.

5. Sheer Fabrics

Sheer fabrics fall in line with the rest of the feminine details we see in spring fashion. Not only are these considered a spring trend, but also a great option to style into the summer as well. An easy way to incorporate sheer fabrics into your spring wardrobe would be to layer them under jackets or blazers to add dimension (in cooler weather) or layer over tanks or camisoles (in warmer weather). You can also find beautiful skirts and dresses with tulle, voile, lace overlay.

In Conclusion…

I personally am a fan of timeless style, however it is fun to play around with fashion trends from time to time as long as they compliment your personal style (don’t go chasing trends). This list of spring fashion trends that you can actually wear was curated with intention to share only the best and easiest fashion trends to incorporate with your spring styles. These fashion trends are also a fun way to keep your spring wardrobe fresh and modern.
