HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR STRENGTHS
Elizabeth Gilbert said it best in Big Magic:
"The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them."
We all have our very own special strengths that tie into the unique gifts and our larger purpose in life. It's up to us to discover these strengths and determine how to use them for the greater good.
Now, when I say strengths, I mean things that you do or happen for you naturally, with ease/very little effort. Strengths are different than skills in the sense that strengths are naturally occurring and skills are more of a practiced discipline.
Once you know what your strengths are, you have the unique ability (or advantage as I see it) to apply them to any and all areas of your life. In doing this you will undoubtedly be successful on your endeavors, maximize your productivity, work in your zone of genius, know when to delegate tasks, and much much more.
For example: Folding laundry is not one of my strengths so I delegate it to my children so that I can optimize my time by working on something that falls under the category of one of my strengths.
Haha, totally kidding about the laundry thing. Sort of. But more on that topic when I do a post about working in your zone of genius (coming up soon).
My point is, you need to know your strengths in life if you want to get ahead (in anything). Your strengths can keep you from running into the resistance we all experience when we are trying to accomplish something that is not one of our strengths or in our zone of genius (i.e. not meant to be).
Living and working in your strengths will inevitably make anything you're doing happen a little easier, a bit faster, and all around more effectively for you. It will feel like you are finally on the downward slope of that uphill battle you have been fighting.
Not sure what you're strengths are? I can help you with that, but remember it's up to you to learn how to apply them for the greater good!
